What is SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and How it works?

SEO can be defined as the process of generating traffic to a website from search engines through good content.

This includes things like keyword research, building backlinks, and much more. SEO also includes optimizing your site in order for it to rank well in search engines like Google (if you’re trying to advertise a product or service). The goal is to make people who are looking for what you offer to see your business on the first page of search results. It’s about bringing up high-quality sites that are useful to users at the top of the rankings so they don’t have to scroll too far before they find what they want or need!

A little background on Search Engine Optimization

The history of SEO is a long and winding one. It’s been with us since the dawn of search engines, changing and adapting to new technologies as they emerge. And it will continue to do so in the future, taking on new challenges and opportunities as we go along.

The history of SEO is also about people: how they use it, what influences them to change their mindsets when it comes to its usage, and how they create strategies that work for themselves or their client’s business needs.

Since its inception, SEO has been constantly changing and evolving to meet the needs of both users and search engines. Updates to the algorithm can mean big changes for businesses who rely on SEO for traffic, and keeping up with these updates is essential for anyone looking to stay ahead of the competition.

What are SEO updates?

Some of the more notable updates over the years include:

1. Google Panda (2011)

This update was aimed at decreasing the ranking of low-quality websites, in favor of those with high-quality content. Panda put an emphasis on user experience, penalizing sites that were cluttered or had too many ads.

2. Google Penguin (2012)

Penguin targeted spammy links, penalizing websites that engaged in link schemes or bought links. It also put an emphasis on quality content, rewarding sites with high-quality backlinks.

These are just a few of the many updates that have been made to Google’s algorithm over the years. Each one has had a significant impact on how SEO is practiced, and it’s important to stay up-to-date on all of them if you want your website to rank well.

How SEO works today?

Now that we’ve covered some basics about SEO, let’s take a look at how it actually works today. There are countless factors that go into ranking well in search engines and trying to optimize them all can be daunting (not to mention impossible). That’s why it’s important to focus on the most important ones and find ways to improve them without overloading yourself.

Here are some of the most important aspects of SEO that you should be focusing on:

  • Content
  • Site structure and navigation
  • Backlinks
  • User experience

Google measures content on a website via two methods: how long the page is, and what percentage of it passes Google’s quality guidelines.

Pages that are longer and have more high-quality content will generally rank better than those with less. This is because Google wants to give its users the best possible experience, and pages that are long and filled with useful information are a big part of that.

However, it’s important to note that “long” doesn’t just mean word count – it also includes images, videos, infographics, etc. So if you want your page to rank well, make sure you include plenty of valuable content!

Site structure and navigation is other important factor when it comes to SEO. If people can’t find what they’re looking for on your website, they’re going to leave – and that’s not good for your ranking.

Make sure your site is easy to navigate, with clear menus and links, and that the most important pages are easily accessible from the homepage. You also want to make sure that your website is responsive, so it looks good on all devices.

Backlinks are still an important factor in SEO, even though Google has been trying to downplay their importance over the years. The best way to get quality backlinks is by creating high-quality content that people will want to share. If you can do that, you’ll be well on your way to getting more traffic from search engines!

User experience is becoming increasingly important as Google continues to focus on delivering the best possible results to its users. This means that websites with good user experience will generally rank higher than those that don’t.

There are many factors that go into creating a positive user experience, but some of the most important ones include loading time, website design, ease of use, and content quality. If you can focus on improving these things, you’ll be well on your way to ranking higher in search engines.

SEO is constantly changing and evolving to meet the needs of both users and search engines. Updates to the algorithm can mean big changes for businesses that rely on SEO for traffic, and keeping up with these updates is essential for anyone looking to stay ahead of the competition.

We could go into detail about all of these factors, but that would require an entire book (and we don’t have time for that!). So if you want to learn more, we suggest doing some additional reading on each one.

But overall, these are the main things you need to keep in mind when it comes to optimizing your website for search engines. And remember, SEO is an ongoing process that requires continuous effort if you want to stay ahead of the competition.

How SEO has changed in last few years?

SEO has changed in the past few years. With Google’s new updates, it seems that SEO is more difficult to accomplish than ever before.

Some of these changes include an emphasis on user experience and site navigation, which are now considered quality factors by Google. This means you have to focus not just on your content but also on how easy it is for users to find what they’re looking for!

SEO can be a difficult process, but it’s important to remember that the rewards are worth the effort. By following these tips and continuing to focus on quality content and user experience, you’ll be well on your way to ranking higher in search engines!

SEO is constantly changing and evolving to meet the needs of both users and search engines. Updates to the algorithm can mean big changes for businesses that rely on SEO for traffic, and keeping up with these updates is essential for anyone looking to stay ahead of the competition.

One such update that has had a significant impact on SEO is Natural Language Processing (NLP). NLP is a method of understanding human language in order to make better decisions about how to serve content. It allows search engines to understand the intent behind user queries, which can help them deliver more relevant results.

NLP is still in its early stages, and there are many opportunities for businesses that want to take advantage of it. By focusing on quality content and user experience, you can make your website more appealing to search engines and stand out from the competition.

SEO is an ever-changing field, and it’s important to stay up to date with the latest changes if you want to stay ahead of the curve. In this article, we’ll discuss some of the most recent updates to Google’s algorithm, and how they’ve impacted SEO as a whole.

One such update is RankBrain, which is a machine learning system that helps Google process billions of queries every day. RankBrain uses artificial intelligence (AI) to understand the intent behind user queries, and then provides results based on that understanding. This has led to a significant increase in longtail searches, which are searches that contain three or more words.

Another recent update is the mobile-first index, which is a shift from Google’s traditional focus on the desktop. With this update, Google will now use the mobile version of a website as its primary source of information, regardless of whether or not someone is searching from a mobile device. This means that businesses need to make sure their websites are optimized for mobile devices if they want to rank well in search results.

SEO tools you should know about

SEO tools are a necessity for any business looking to improve its ranking in search engine results pages (SERPs). Google Analytics:

One of the most important SEO tools is Google Analytics. This tool allows you to track your website traffic and see where it’s coming from. This information can be invaluable in helping you optimize your website for better search engine rankings.

Moz is a leading provider of software for inbound marketing. The company offers two main products: Moz Local, which helps marketers to identify the best location for business growth based on their target customer demographics and interests; and Moz Analytics, which provides one central place to measure customer actions across search engines, social media platforms, and other online channels.

Moz also offers consulting services that cover SEO strategy development, implementation through optimization, paid search advertising management support, content creation & distribution strategies as well as conversion rate optimization.

Local and National SEO

There are two ways to do SEO: National or Local SEO. National SEO focuses on getting your site ranked for popular keywords so you’ll get more traffic from major search engines like Google, Yahoo!, Bing, and AOL while local SEO focuses on targeting specific geographic areas.

Local SEO is a great way to get your website noticed by local customers. If you own a business in a specific city in the United States, you might want to consider doing Local SEO. The first step is choosing an appropriate domain name (e.g., “yoursite.com”). Next, make sure that the information on your site about your business and its services are accurate and up-to-date. Then, research keywords for geographic areas near where you’re located so people searching for businesses like yours will find it easier than ever before!

Local SEO can be tricky but it’s worth trying if you want more customers around town without having to pay for TV ads or billboards all over the place! Remember: don’t forget about mobile optimization either!

Which type of SEO you should do depends on your business and its location. If you’re a national company, then you’ll want to focus on National SEO, but if you’re a local company, then you’ll want to focus on Local SEO. However, it’s important to note that both types of SEO are important

On-Page and Off-Page SEO

On-Page SEO:

ON-page SEO refers to all of the techniques you use on your own website to rank higher in search engine results pages (SERPS). These include changing titles, updating meta descriptions as well as keywords, and adding content that has been optimized for certain topics so that people searching for them will find you first – these are known as long-tail keywords. On-page optimization also means making sure images and links work properly so Google can crawl through all of the information on your site quickly and easily.

Off-Page SEO:

Off-page SEO is the process of optimizing your website by building links from other websites. The more high-quality links you have pointing to your site, the higher you’ll rank in SERPS – even if your content isn’t as good as your competitors! This is why link building is such an important part of SEO.

Understanding TF, IDF, and LSI

TF, IDF, and LSI are all important concepts to understand when it comes to SEO.

TF (Term Frequency):

It is the number of times a particular word appears on a page.

IDF (Inverse Document Frequency):

It is the number of pages on the internet that contain a particular word divided by the total number of pages on the internet.

LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing):

It is a technique used by search engines to determine how relevant a page is to a particular topic. All three of these concepts are important for understanding how search engines rank websites.

Did you know that page load time is one of the most important factors when it comes to SEO?

Google takes page speed into account when ranking websites, so if your site loads slowly, you’re going to rank lower than your competitors.

How website speed impacts SEO?

Page load time is the amount of time it takes for a page to be loaded in a browser. This includes all of the resources needed to display the page, including images, fonts, and JavaScript files. The faster your website loads, the better it will rank in search engine results pages (SERPS).

There are several factors that can affect your website’s page load time, including the size of your images, the number of requests your page makes to the server, and the type of hosting you’re using. In this blog post, we’ll discuss some of the tools and techniques you can use to measure and improve your website’s page load time.

Tools for Measuring Page Load Time:

There are several tools you can use to measure your website’s page load time, including:

Google PageSpeed Insights – This tool measures the speed of your website and provides suggestions for how to improve it.

WebPageTest – This tool allows you to test the loading time of your website on different devices and networks.

YSlow – This tool analyzes your website’s performance and provides suggestions for how to improve it.

Pingdom Tools – This tool allows you to test the loading time of your website on different servers around the world.

Techniques for Improving Page Load Time

There are several techniques you can use to improve your website’s page load time, including:

Optimizing images – You can reduce the size of your images by using a compression tool like TinyPNG or JPEGmini.

Minifying JavaScript and CSS files – You can minify these files by removing unnecessary whitespace and comments.

Leveraging browser caching – You can cache static resources like images, JavaScript files, and CSS files so they don’t have to be downloaded each time a user visits your website.

Using a content delivery network – A CDN can help improve the loading time of your website by caching your resources on servers around the world.

There are many other techniques you can use to improve your website’s page load time, but these are some of the most common. By following these tips, you can make sure your website loads quickly for everyone.

Core Web Vitals

There are four core web vitals that you need to be aware of in order to create a fast and performant website: Cummulative layout shift, largest contentful paint, first input delay, and time to interactive. In this blog post, we’ll discuss each of these metrics and how they can affect the user experience of your website.

Cumulative layout shift

The cumulative layout shift metric measures the amount of time it takes for a page to be fully rendered. This includes all of the resources needed to display the page, including images, fonts, and JavaScript files. The longer it takes for a page to be rendered, the more likely users are to abandon it.

Largest contentful paint

The largest contentful paint metric measures the time it takes for the most important piece of content on a page to be displayed. This includes all of the resources needed to display the content, including images, fonts, and JavaScript files. The faster you can get this content onscreen, the better the user experience will be.

First input delay

The first input delay metric measures the amount of time it takes for a user to start interacting with your website. This includes all of the resources needed to display the page, including images, fonts, and JavaScript files. The faster you can get this content onscreen, the better the user experience will be.

Time to interactive

The time to interactive metric measures the amount of time it takes for a page to be fully interactive. This includes all of the resources needed to display the page, including images, fonts, and JavaScript files. The faster you can get this content onscreen, the better the user experience will be.

There are many different factors that can affect the user experience of your website, but these are some of the most important. By understanding and optimizing for these metrics, you can create a page that is fast and responsive for all users.SEO is the process of optimizing a website for Google search with the goal of earning higher web traffic levels and improving the visibility of the site.

By using these three tools together, you can get a comprehensive understanding of how popular a particular keyword is and how difficult it will be to rank for it. Once you have identified the right keywords, you can target them in your website’s content and improve your website’s visibility.

Mobile Devices and SEO

Mobile devices are becoming increasingly popular, and it is important to optimize your website for these devices. What is authenticâ€Ķ..about Authentic Imaging?

What is authenticâ€Ķ..about Authentic Imaging?

By: Mike Smith
Business Development Manager – Authentic Imaging
Authentic – adjective: not false or copied; genuine; real

Today, both advertising and apologies must be authentic.

They must be real and they must be genuine.

As time has gone on clients, customers and consumers are not easily fooled.  With the overwhelming use of rating systems, reviews and customer to customer interaction it is hard to bait and switch to sell a product or service.

As a full service digital marketing agency we pride ourselves on being authentic.  From the projects we work on to the employees that make the wheels turn, we are authentic. Fake is unattractive and to a consumer a complete turn off.

Making a difference in digital  marketing is only possible if a company refrains from using the “dangle the carrot of success” method to a consumer.  Authentic Imaging takes pride in knowing that all our products and services have no hidden curtains or fancy magic tricks.  We are not a large company, so the ease of customer communication and trust is vital.

We are all selling something, however the difference between just selling something to a customer and helping their business to grow are two completely different things.  Results are the fuel that forces us to be better for our customersâ€Ķ. From website analytics to walk in referrals the only way to view these kinds of results is to be authentic.

“To reduce the digital investment risk, we must prove with results.”  A lot of times when customers purchase a product or a service it may take days, months or even years for them to feel that their purchase was worthwhile.  Our goal at Authentic Imaging is to give each of our clients a feeling from day 1 that their investment in their company was worth it. The best way to accomplish this is by making the whole experience authentic.

According to Geoff Beattie, Global Leader of Corporate Affairs, when people think of authentic companies, they think of: “A company that has values and morals and stands by them no matter what while honestly divulging its practices (flaws and all). In fact, the thing people most wanted was open and honest communications about products and services. And that finding was consistent around the world.”

For a brand or a company to be considered authentic, it needs to be perceived as reliable, respectful, and real.

In March of 2018 an article published on Marketingland.com focused on the idea that many brands are striving for authenticity as audiences turn a skeptical eye towards many different forms of advertising.  “Consumers are experiencing a crisis of faith.   According to the Edelman Trust Barometer, today only 52 percent of global respondents trust businesses. The figures are even more dramatic in the US, where a mere 48 percent are similarly trusting, down from 58 percent in 2017.”  “For example, almost half of social media users have called out brands, 60 percent of whom did so because of perceived dishonesty, relative to a mere 45 percent who complained about a bad product experience, according to a Sprout Social analysis last year. While brands can regain some credibility with a sincere apology, messaging missteps can seriously affect brand loyalty, making consumers reluctant to share the brand with friends.”

So what does all this meanâ€Ķ..? To truly be authentic you must gain and regain customer trust.

“Thanks to the internet, consumers are savvier than ever before. They want companies to respect their intelligence and alleviate their anxiety about misinformation by presenting themselves honestly and consistently.” -Marketingland.com

Brand Permission Stratagies

You don’t have to have a sales team if you have brand permission strategies in place.

What is Brand permission? Let me answer it by asking you the question – why do big brands like Apple, Microsoft, always advertise, even though the average consumer knows about them? The two essential things they try to achieve is maintaining brand recognition and educate the consumer – you on the value of their product.

So for example when your kids are going back to school, you make a natural buying decision base on a brand you know and feel you can trust.

So Brand permission is creating brand awareness and value of your product or service before you ask for a sale.

Note

If your business depends on sales, it makes it easier for your sales team to achieve sales goals if the consumer has already given your team permission to sell to them.

Facebook Changes, What They Mean, and What Is Ahead

Hello everyone! Let me start off this update by (finally) introducing myself and let you know  what my role is at Authentic Imaging.  My name is Ashley and for the last couple of years, I have been the person scheduling and finding relatable content for social media as well as performing small website updates as directed by Philip. Additionally, I try to keep up with the latest trends and algorithm changes behind each social media platform to ensure Authentic Imaging is doing our part in keeping our clients ahead in the digital marketing landscape.

As some of you may have heard, two weeks ago Facebook announced some major changes to their news feed and what people will (or won’t) be seeing from business pages and groups.  In plain terms, Facebook is limiting the amount of posts that people will see from business pages in an effort to connect people who care about each other in a more meaningful way. They have determined that mindlessly scrolling through posts that we do not connect to is detrimental to our health and are taking steps to correct this, even if it means spending less time of Facebook.

With that being said, a large number of businesses and social media marketers initially went into panic mode. The reason being is simpleâ€ĶFacebook has been a great source of extremely cheap, and far-reaching, advertising for a good number of years. Businesses, especially those who concentrated on e-commerce sales, could advertise to people all over the world that were interested in their products without much focus on creating meaningful relationships. However, this announcement really shouldn’t have come with too much shock. The reality is that Facebook was created to connect people, not a place for businesses to advertise their products.

The good news in all of this is that this announcement falls in line with what Authentic Imaging has been saying for over a year.  Make social media more sociable and relatable.  We’ve never been digital marketers that only focus on selling a product. We want followers of the pages we manage to find useful information that they can use in their lives and keep coming back to our clients as knowledgeable sources of the information they are looking for.

The bad news is that providing this relative information is no longer enough. We need to make sure that our client’s Facebook pages are a community for people to come and interact with business owners and staff who know what they are talking about.  We need to encourage dialogue and conversation that is useful to everyone involved. A personal relationship must now be developed on a digital platform.

What does this all mean for the future? It means that we need to develop a more in-depth and constant communication with our clients about what is going on inside their business in order for our clients and their followers to form the connection that Facebook is looking for. As to how we are going to make this happen, Authentic Imaging is still in the strategic planning phase and will let each digital marketing client know exactly what changes will be coming and/or be in contact for a more in-depth meeting in the following weeks.  In the meantime, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.  Thank you!
